Visit by Jim Geach
Visting DARK 13-14 Oct. 2008
James (Jim) Geach of Durham University, UK, is visiting DARK and will be giving a talk on HiZELS - Durham's High redshift survey of H-alpha emitters using WFCAM near-IR narrowband imaging over 10 sq. degrees.
Talk:
Date: Tues. 14th Oct.
Time: 14:15
Place: DARK Lounge
Title: "Distant cluster starbursts as the progenitors of local S0s?"
Absract:
"I examine evidence that dusty starburst galaxies residing in the 'infall' regions of z~0.5 clusters are the progenitors of some of the most luminous, passive lenticulars (S0s) found in the cores of rich clusters of galaxies in the local Universe (but which are absent from progenitor environments just 5Gyr ago at z~0."
