To give a talk on 2 June, 2008
Alfonso Aragon-Salamanca of School fo Physics and Astronomy, University of Nottingham
Date: 2 June, 2008
Time: 13:15
Place: DARK lounge/Rockefeller
Title of talk: The formation of S0 galaxies
Abstract:
Lenticular (S0) galaxies live at the crossroads between Ellipticals and
Spiral galaxies in Hubble's tuning-fork diagram. Understanding how they form and evolve is essential if we wish to have a complete picture of how galaxy morphology is related to galaxy formation and evolution. In this talk I will present evidence suggesting that the formation and evolution of S0s is more closely related to that of spirals that to that of ellipticals.
